Yaofeng,
Thanks again for your help. Clutch is back to 'normal', as I wrote above, just a little off where I'd like it. I hope it's not the slave, but I'm not confident, because it was fine after the master was replaced and it was bled, and it's clear air is getting somehow, and I can only guess the slave, because I don't see leaks at the master, or anywhere.
The bottom of the bellhousing, on the outside, is black, but that looks old and dirty, and the inside, past the bleeder screw, I couldn't see in with a flashlight well enough. I'd have to move the air hose and really get into it.
If it is the slave, I'm not sure if I might retire the car. I don't have the tools to do it myself, and never having done it, I'd hate to mess it up. Unless I can find a good garage with a cheap labor rate (I'm looking at $75-$80 for 7-10 hours depending on who you talk to), It would be cheaper to buy another used saab that's already had a clutch job.
Plus, I have that ticking noise in the trans that goes away when I press the clutch. It's been suggested here that it's the throwout bearing, but if it's not, then who knows what it is and when I'd have problems. Used tranny is at least another $750, unless I can find cheaper.
Shouldn't add to labor much I imagine, though.
