if you have your timing chain cover off to replace the other parts, you will never have better access. And if you do the job now, you will never need the access again.
Early in the ownership of my 91 9000, I declined to replace the chain when I did a headgasket job. The chain failed 15K miles later. The price of the chain is cheap insurance against the catastrophic failure I experienced. I am not trying to scare you into it, but replacing the chain, all the sprockets, balance shaft chains, another new headgasket, 6 broken valves, and 4 years later a cylender head complete (previous damage from one of my bent valves finally wore through to the coolant chamber)...need I say more?
PS: Mine didn't look worn before it broke either. Problem was that add up the tolerances between the chain wear, the tensioner passing its spec, the teeth on the gears, and you have a recipie for a broken chain. If you weren't already doing the rest, I would say leave it until you can hear it rattling. Mine began rattling 1 month before it broke completely.
