I've had a full turbo-back JT 3" system for about three years now and have nothing but praise for it. It's just a little noisier than standard but "fart can" (!!) it isn't - but it has a lovely hard note under full throttle. Not a slient whisper, certainly.
The bigger exhaust lowers exhaust gas temperatures - good thing - but the main benefit seems to come from the downpipe section. Some people reckon that if you have this plus a sports cat you can do the rest in 2½" (the Saab Sports exhaust is 62mm, I think). But as the JT is relatively cheap I can't see the sense in that, especially as you would need some sort of adapter (or a special cat) to make the transition.
Downsides to the JT? Well, many people (including me) have reported leaks at joints and the concensus seems to be that band clamps are a good idea. The large pipe diameter means that careful alignment is needed near the back axle and fuel tank if it's not to knock on something. And the tail-pipe sticks out a bit too much on non-Aero cars. Some people are worried that road salt will kill it but I haven't found that on UK roads. And some (also including me) have had to adjust base boost after fitting.
I'd very much recommend this system for fitment to Automatic cars, by the way - its characteristics seem to suit the transmission and there is very lieelt turbo lag.
