...or it could be a hard one! :)
I'm sorry i'm a kidder... but seriously...
There are switches on both the brake and clutch pedals that are in the cruise control circuit...
They are the switches responsible for telling the cuise ECU to disengage when you press down on either pedal. If these switches are broken, the cruise WILL NOT engage, because the ecu "thinks" that you have a pedal pressed down.
In most ways, this is a good thing, because of safety... you don't want the cruise to keep you accelerated at 70 mph when there's a sudden accident right in front of you, and you need to stop.
you COULD just turn the cruise stalk switch to OFF to disengage the cruise, but I don't think there would be enough time to react in a situation like that...
So... there are redundant switches to disengage the cruise everywhere.
An electrical switch on both the brake and clutch pedal...
a vacuum operated switch on the brake and clutch pedal,
and another switch located on the third high brake light in your rear window, in case ALL others fail for some reason.
They might be a pain to keep replacing, but rest assured in the case of an emergency your cruise system WILL disengage itself, one way or another...
my advice to you, since your clutch pedal was just "on the floor"... check the clutch pedal switches... it might just need to be "adjusted", which i THINK you do by holding the pedal down with your hand... and then pulling the switches OUT as far as they will go, then releasing the pedal slowly back to it's normal position. I've tried this in the past, and it didn't work... because my switch was flat out broken... so give it a few tries, and if it still won't engage, you might need to bring it back to the mechanic and order new switches...
GOOD LUCK! My cruise didn't work for TWO YEARS! I know how much of a pain it is to drive without it! I never want to go without it again! hope this helps!
