I've found they are better on some cars than others, which seems to make no sense at all. They were awesome on my 86 GTI--on ice, packed snow, deep snow, any thing, over a very long snowy NH winter.
On my C900 they were merely OK.
On a departed, very unlamented, Volvo 940 Turbo Wagon they were essential, but a toothier tire would have been much better.
I have Dunlop Graspics on an old set of alloys on my 9K and they are very good.
A friend with a succession of Mercedes went from Blizzaks to Michelin Alpins and thinks they are much better.
