According to the Saab Trionic manual, pin 14 is energized when the automatic tranny is in any gear other than P or N. Therefore, I assume the wire comes from the gear selector.
Additionally, I'm pretty sure I read in the Trionic manual that the power is limited in order to preserve the automatic gearbox.
By powering pin 14, HP is limited to 200 (vs 225 for the manual), and Torque at 238 ft-lbs (vs 252 for the manual).
My opinion on performance modifications is that it's your car, do whatever you please. However, given the known issues with the autobox, I can't believe that you can add 25 hp and 14 more ft-lbs, and not adversely impact the health of the box. So I've got no issue with the modification; just don't assume that it won't shorten the life of the box.
