Julia,
I also have a 1994 9000 and while I have not had the opportunity to change of O2 sensor, it does not appear to be that difficult of a job. Here is what I would suggest:
1. The sensor is mounted (as I recall)on the output side of the turbocharger, just below the exhaust manifold and directly below the air conditioning compressor towards the front side of the engine on the passenger side. The sensor will have two white wires and one black wire coming from it.
2. Follow the wires from the O2 sensor and they will wrap around the passenger side of the engine toward the rear of the engine. At some point near the rear of the engine there will be a plastic connector for this wiring harness. Disconnect this plastic connector and then thread the wiring harness back towards the O2 sensor.
3. Using a wrench, unscrew the O2 sensor in a counterclockwise direction, and remove the O2 sensor from output side of the turbo.
4. Obtain a replacement O2 sensor. Screw the sensor into the output pipe coming from the turbo. Then run the wiring harness back through the original route to the wiring connector towards the rear of the engine. Connect the connector on the end of the O2 sensor wire to the connector at the rear of the engine.
The entire process should take about 15-20 minutes.
Good Luck.
