Swapping audio from 95+ to a 90 - DIN & wiring?

I have a '90 9kt with the
stock clarion fm/cassette
deck plus equalizer.
I often see audio units with
CD players - Harmon Karden etc,
from 95 and above 9k on ebay,
and a variety
of other units that are advertised
on web sites as "perfect fit".
Would appreciate advice form
someone who has upgraded their
sound on how much pain in the a**
factor is involved in such swaps/upgrades.
Thanks, buckmath
