I drove our 93 home on limp-home; it showed a solid TCS CTRL indication but no ABS. I don't recall if the CHECK ENGINE was also on. I went right to the site and searched; thanks to whoever posted the story about Safety Valve coil resistance increasing when hot; that was it! It measured ~30 ohms, but went open when heated briefly with a hair dryer. I had an old mazda valve kicking around; it has the same switching mechanism and the coil measures 36 ohms cold. I adapted the electrical connection and went for a test drive...it worked; no TCS CTL light and it ran well. However, the CHECK ENGINE was on. I tried to re-start it, but the TCS CTRL light came on and it would just idle at 500 RPM and not go into limp home mode; there was no throttle response at all. Then I pulled the Mazda rubber cap off of the unused port, which let the air in so it went into limp home mode, but it wouldn't clear as before; apparently it had become a permanent fault. I also noticed a 5 then 6 flash code from the CHECK ENGINE indicator. I was able to clear those codes and shut of the CHECK ENGINE ind. by unplugging the ECU for 15 min as suggested byAntony Norris, but the TCS control stays on. I am currently trying to clear the TCS module by unpluging both of it's fuses and will post the outcome later. any advice will be appreciated.
