and it is not the drain tubes, as is the case for most others. Mine is just like yours, not seating tightly/completely (though, mine is on the pass. side). If I push up on the plastic trim inside, the rattle stops. In fact, when I cruise at speeds higher than 60mph's, the moonroof lifts itself slightly and I can hear air rushing in. I have tried tightening all exposed screws and it did not help.
Only idea I have is that the chassis frame is off-kilter. I had a problem month's ago in which the pass. side bolts (both of them) fell out that hold that side subframe to the front cross-member. The car had sagged slightly on that side (also caused my cv-boot to rip apart from rubbing onto the lower balljoint), and I think it threw off the car's body alignment. I'm thinking I need to remove the same bolts on the driver's side to allow the frame to re-align itself.
Reason I am thinking of this is because I had to do this about a year ago when I replaced all of the engine mounts, requiring the subframe bolts to be loosened. When I had done that, it caused the moonroof to be too tight (also caused my driver's door to be slightly stuck). Once I drove it around the block, everything situated itself again perfectly...that is, until those two bolts fell out and everything went awry.
