If you're good at feeling around in small, dark places, you could try it through the ACC hole (take out the clock too). But its a PITA to get to the right nipple on the firewall. So it may be easier to take off the dash.
Here's how mine is connected: gauge > nipple on firewall (interior side) > nipple on firewall (exterior side) > nipple on manifold (near TB).
Mine doesn't go to a Y connector from the hooter valve, but is connected directly to the manifold. But if your problem is interior than it doesn't matter.
