As I learned from the past in this BB,that a report on the solving of a problem is highly appreciated, I will inform jou as follows:
The impossibility to turn my key in the barrel, in order to unlock the steering wheel is solved by removing the total steering lock mechanism from the steering column by the dealer.
Next, the dealer brought the whole assembly (barrel, housing, pin, etc.) to a locksmith, who after opening the lock concluded that a springloaded pin was not longer in place.
Normally when you put your key in the barrel the pattern on the key is responsable for the aligning of the 6 or 7 pins in such away that the inner part of the barrel is set free and can turn in the outer body of the barrel.
This activates the hardened steelen lock pin into the steering columnshaft to "withdrawn" in his housing.
By replacing in the barrel all the innermounted springloaded pins by new ones and closing the barrel, the key could turn freely.
Afther remounting of the removed locking assembly set again on the steering shaft the problem was fixid.
Costs: towing the vehicle (frontwheels lifted by a special device of the breakdown car) to the dealer: $ 127
repairing costs: locksmith and dealer $ 165
Total: $ 292.
Now, I am a poor man but a happy SAAB driver again!!!!
