After a long ordeal to get the top starter bolt off (needed more socket extensions)and brute force...

I am just about ready to drop the subframe and drop transmission, maybe tomorrow, or next day, or next, I just lost an hour of daylight.

Questions:

1. The rear tires had gone really low on me so I bled the slave yesterday and drove to station to get some air. Clutch felt good at first, then started to get lower to floor, as expected...

Mystery is, today when i got under car I didn't see a big puddle of fresh fluid even though resevoir is now 1/2 full compared to topped off. There was a little stain in the asphalt, but I lost a lot of fluid from resevoir??

Did I lose it right away, as I was driving, or is it missing internally??

My reason for replacing slave was that I could bleed the slave, and look under car, and see fluid on the ground, and then quickly lose clutch and have to bleed again. Correct assumption?? I don't see any obvious leaks on the hoses. And C. Master is brand new.

2. I have the cloth looking braided hose from master to clutch master, is this the one I'm supposed to replace for internal failures?? I can't seem to remember or find a definitive answer on the BB.

3. Noticed driver's outer CV boot is cracked, I never heard any noise on the left side, seem logical to just replace boot and re-grease??

4. The clutch felt great itself, 99% of time, and the last saab mech who drove it thought the clutch was fine. Only thing is an occasional 1st to 2nd shift which doesn't go through, I have to let up clutch and push in again. This problem comes and goes, will show up a lot for a week, then disappear for a month, had it for a couple years. Also for a short time had a problem where it didn't hold well in first and would pop out, but this too seemed to get better on its own.

The previous owner mentioned something about having something adjusted on the clutch, what might I be looking at for causes of these conditions??

I would like to address these things while it's apart if I can.

Thanks,
aaron
