Idle - AIC vs. AMM vs. O2 vs Pulling out hair... Posted by Andrew [Email] ![]() ![]() |
Hello all-
Quick question about these idle problems! So I have a rough idle on my 87 9k Turbo. Replaced all vacuum lines and replaced all gaskets (including the head gasket but that was another project). From a lot of posts on this site, I cleaned my throttle body (again) and AIC valve. After cleaning the AIC valve it decides to randomly idle at 1100 or as high 1500. If I give the gas pedal a little tap it goes down to 950 and slowly creeps back up. This is after the car heats up. During cold starts I have the popular rough idle to 500 and jump up to 1100 over and over until it warms up. So I assume from the order of events that I probably have a bad AIC valve or its still dirty and I just moved the dirt around. I was also thinking it could be the AMM or o2 sensor from previous posts. Anybody experience this in the past and end up with a solution? After the head g & valve job, the car moves great - just this annoying idle. Any other solutions?
