Drive shaft removal

I need to get the length of the drive shafts of the 94 cde to Rum's Garage so matching ones which fit the LPT drive cups can be sent to me to complete the auto to 5 speed conversion. This may be on the critical path if I don't get it done soon.
Removed the 32mm end nut on the passenger side drive shaft of the 94 cde in darkness. The car is parked in the driveway.
It is not straight forward though. The drivetrain is already off. To gain leverage, I reconnected the steering swivel to the strut, with bolts finger tight, replaced the road wheel and lower the car to have the road wheel support the car. First time I put my 3/4" drive metric socket set purchased two years ago for $30 to use. It is made in you know where (hint: the price). That part was easy.
So the nut is off. I can see the serration of the splines at the end of the threads. What do I do next? My 16 oz hammer on the end of the shaft cushioned by a wooden block is obviously not going to do the job. Do I get a bigger hammer or am I going about it the wrong way?
