the car is back together, i took it out for a drive, it worked, i was very relieved, but waiting for a surprise.
the pedal feels different with a new release bearing and slave. probably better, but just different to me, i liked the way it used to work.
anyway, a couple miles into test, however, things got weird. the clutch, which was firm, would get stuck on the release, and i'd have to pull it up, a little, then it would pop all the way and i'd have a hard shift
with the engine off, pedal was firm and didn't stick. just stuck on release when shifting into a gear
got it home, re-bled the slave, and got some air out (maybe i didn't bleed it all the first time, even though i had a nice pedal), and so far it's working without sticking, fingers crossed and knocking on wood...
please let it keep working...
HOWEVER, the new t/o bearing seems to whine sometimes when i press in the clutch. is this just the sound of mating (pun partially intended)
and, when i release the clutch, there is a section midway during release, where it feels gritty, like it's either the bearing, or the slave is meeting a little resistance. i don't recall ever feeling that in a clutch.
only seems to do it when the car is running, and i'm not sure it's consistent.
oh, and the whine that was in my trans didn't go away with the new t/o bearing, but i can live with that for now...
