they buy their standard trans saab unless they can verify it's already been done.
anyway, thanks for the thoughts...
clutch master was replaced first when the pedal stuck to the floor over the summer. i was in a pinch and needed the car and had a saab mech do it for $315 total (ouch). i told him to replace the supply line and he didn't. and the slave failed the next week. and after a couple days of bleeding and driving it sat for a few months, until last weekend when a friend and i tore it apart and replaced:
slave
supply line from master to clutch master
flexible line from slave line to clutch master
t/o bearing
trans fluid
the slave/clutch master line was disintegrating on the inside, the supply line i'm not so sure about, but i bled a lot, so i hoped the clutch master would have bled out any problems.
the new line to the slave and the slave itself never saw a disingegrated hose, but maybe there was some little bit left in the c.m. that didn't come out when i flushed some fluid through it prior to hooking it back up.
i did a search on gritty, after not finding any gritty clutch posts, and apparently the grittiness has happened to other people after the same repair, not sure why though.
i guess i have to face my fear and start driving it and see what happens. i'll probably bleed the slave a little more though...
