Hi Urby, In my post I suggested another possibility was a perished hose. I stand by this suggestion as unless your car has been badly modified there are flexible hydraulic lines over a foot long supplying hydraulic oil to the brake caliphers on all fours wheels. (Check your car and find them)
As I said, I have actually experienced severe brake overheating from a bad hose. Whilst a perished hose may not be the cause of the problem in this instance all potential causes should be considered. I think you are giving dangerous advice to fellow Saab users when you tell them there are no hydraulic hoses to be maintained at the rear of the car.
Never-the-less I have learnt from your post that the wheel cylinders cannot be retracted by compression and I thank you for that.
