no offense intended.
I started off with a K+N air filter connected pretty much directly to the air mass meter...
it WAS in fact open to the road underneath, and alas, in opne heavy rainstorm in florida where the roads flooded, my engine was ruined.
hydrolocked it right up, blew a head gasket... and that was the end of that engine.
thousands of dollars and a new engine later...
i've spent a lot of time researching other air intakes, and this one made me feel comftorab;e enough about road water issues so that i would install it.
There is a panel undernead the air filter... keeping it separated from the road underneath.
it is also sheilded from the tire, and from direct oncoming air...
there is NO WAY enough water could hit this air filter and do damage to my engine like the first filter did, UNLESS i was completely submerged in water.
so...
believe what you want, but i trust this filter system enough to use it on my new engine, and not that my word is gold or anything, but it should bring some comfort to others that want a PERFORMANCE intake system but are worried of possible consequences...
a drop in K=N filter in the stock airbox ain't gonna cut it when you want to flow 20psi...
but it's all about what you want to do with your car i guess...
