Sounds like a good idea, but would an airbag deployment Posted by TonyJ [Email] (#407) [Profile/Gallery] (more from TonyJ) on Sat, 13 Nov 2004 06:17:07 In Reply to: Preferred cupholder, R. .....add to the obvious bad day by spraying hot coffee on the passsengers?
CUPHOLDER OBSERVATIONS
In our Aero, we have "Road & Track" cupholders that deploy when you push a button hung on both windows. These are OK for all sizes of cold drinks, but I wouldn't put anything hot in them, unless it's securely covered. It also has a DIN cupholder (from a Taurus) in the top DIN slot, which is OK for 12OZ cans or coffee travel mugs. I agree with most of the cons Gavin wrote and add that I don't think this type would work well on a 96-97 because the ashtray is in the bottom slot and the trays would interfere with the shifter. Also, you need to re-locate the cig. lighter if you use it as a power outlet. I put ours in the TCS control slot. Our Aero also has the type that fits in the center compartment; I think it's OK, but my (shorter) wife doesn't like it because she has to reach too far back and loses room to store CDs, etc.
