...no matter which one was installed stock on your car... they are different for the following reason...
one works at 82 degrees C, and one works at 89 degrees C...
what does this mean for your engine?
The 82 degree t-stat will open at a LOWER temp, obviously, so it keeps your engine from running hotter...
supposedly, this lower temp thermostat is "bad" for cold weather climates, because it hinders the engine being able to warm up quickly.
I personally think that is crap... and i let my car warm up for at about 5-7 minutes in cold weather, and it's plenty warm by the time i start driving it...
the concept of the 89 degree t-stat is to let the car heat up more when initially started i guess... to decrease the warm up time...
it doesn't matter i guess if you got the 89 degree t-stat...
your car will just run a little hotter all the time.
You can bring it back and exchange it for the 82 degree one... which is what i recommend.
another arguement that people will sometimes bring up about the 82 degree t-stat, is that it doesn't let the car run at it's "optimum tempurature" and lowers engine performance...
that may or may not be true, i can't say one way or another because i've never tested the performance differences between the two t-stats... but... again... i use the 82 degree t-stat and thermoswitch, and my engine runs fine... and a little bit colder...
the 89 degree will be fine for you, as long as you have one that works...
