Oil Pump Seals

I recently ordered a crank seal and O ring seal for my 91 9KT Automatic (really don't know why they made automatics for these cars) from Eeuroparts. My engine is a 2.3 16v, and according to the Haynes manual should have a B234 engine. Eeroparts sent the correct seal and O-ring for the B234 (I assume). When I remove the crank pully I discover that the oil pump cover is of the type described in the Haynes manual as a B202 style (bolted cover instead of the circlip). It being late, and needing the car the next day, I took out the shaft seal only to discover that it is slightly different. 48x66.65x10 instead of the 48x66.65x8 (10 mm deep instead of 8mm). Checked the clearance on the pulley and all was fine (little pulley wear at the pulley where the seal fits) so I buttoned it back up (ran fine, stopped some of the leaking).
After that long winded story, my questions are: Is there an error in the Haynes manual? Is there a good reason why my engine has a different oil pump cover? And most importantly will the o ring seal for the (B234 engine) fit in this style cover? If not, what size do I need?
Thanks for the help in advance.
