You can easily change the bulb by removing the underbody splash guard on the side that the bulb is burnt out on (that is also an easy job), then reach in and squeeze the two tiny wire tabs on the small cage that holds the bulb into the assembly, and then disconnect the bulb from the wiring. Installation is the reverse order. DO NOT TOUCH THE BULB WITH YOUR FINGERS! It will quickly burn out if you do.
Replacing the assembly itself is also easy. Once you've removed the splash guard, then just remove the two upper screws that hold the assembly in place (I think it's attached to the inside of the bumper). You can't use universal foglights in the oem spots. You would have to mount those in front of the bottom air dam attached to the outside of the bumper.
If you were to use better bulbs, you would have significantly better output from the foglights, resulting in better vision. I use PIAA's (when I bought mine 2 years' ago, they were the brightest at the time, but now there are even brighter ones). The PIAA's do not shine blue. They are a perfect bright white (mine are 3800 on the Kelvin Chart, newer ones are at 5100 and above).
Make sure to use ones that are rated for 55W systems. Mine draw 55 watts, but put out 80 watts (maybe even more...I forget).
I will never go back to conventional bulbs again, including headlights. I have Catz in those and they are extremely close to HID. Not blue or purple, just pure white and bright. I have had all of these bulbs for over 2 years now, and have had no problems.
