At the pictogram relay Posted by Ari [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: where does the wire pop out on the front side?, rsfeller, Sun, 28 Nov 2004 22:03:02 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The 'divide' occurs at the pictogram relay - the relay that lights up when one brake light is out. Going into the relay is one wire, coming out is two, one for each side. Now, to be exact, the pictogram relay isn't a true relay - it doesn't switch current. It merely measures the current in each leg (left and right sides) and compares them. If they differ, it lights the pictogram light. So they are straight connections. If I had to guess, it would be a bad connection at the relay.
The relay location depends on the year of your car (ALWAYS good to provide year and model info.) For '91 and earlier, it's in the relay panel behind the glovebox. It's the long relay. For '92 and later, it mounted in the engine compartment, near the firewall, behind the battery.
