Actually you are pushing things on a lot of levels to go this fast. Lots can break on cars this old, and not much margin of error at these speeds.
That said, isn't it amazing how good these cars feel at this speed? I was bored with my '87 9k until I cranked it up to 125mph. It hunkered down on the road and felt like a roadster at 50mph.
I would agree with the tire guess, but would also look at the suspension parts. May have thrown a tire weight too.
