Two thoughts come to mind-
There is a shift interlock solenoid to keep you from shifting out of park without your foot on the brake. This drives a pin into place. Perhaps something in that mechanism has failed, blocking the shifter. It wouldn't be electrical, because you don't need to energize the solenoid to shift into park - only to shift out.
The other thought is just some other blockage in the shifter mechanism.
The first thing I would do is pop off that little cover just behind the shifter - the one that allows you to override the interlock. You stick a key into that slot - it can be any flat object. See if that allows you to shift into Park.
The other thing I'd do is remove the cover and check out the shift mechanism. At the very front of the cover (the part with the slot) is a little black button - pop that off, and remove the torx screw there. Then pull the shifter all the way back (to 1) and remove the two screws on the shift lever itself - usually phillips head. Pull the rubber grip straight up and off. Gently lift the front of the cover (part with slot) - sometimes it takes a little prying. Once that part is up, slide the shifter as far forward as you can. This allows you to free the sliding portion. With the cover up a few inches, remove the lightbulb from the left side - just follow the wires. It is just a press fit in. You can now lift the cover away. Have some paper towels around, because sometimes folks get carried away with greasing it.
You can now examine the mechanism. Look for foreign objects (coins, paperclips, etc) that may have fallen in. Make sure the release mechanism on the shifter grip (which is now just two white plastic things on the upper sides of the shifter shaft) move properly.
There is a cable that runs up to the key to keep the key locked in. There is a possibility that the problem is in the key lock mechanism, also. But start at the shifter.
