20 miles or so of highway driving, with slowing, passing, working, coasting, it dropped into the low 30's once i had to stop for tolls, accelerate, and got into traffic to where i was going, another 15 miles, on the way back was much more traffic, two tolls, a 5 minute stop for a train to pass, and much more aggressive driving, and i wound up with 29.8 as a total round-trip.
my 92 seems lighter than my 93
i used to compare the computer and the gallons vs miles used and it was always fairly accurate
the highway here in south florida is basically flat, with slight rises that don't require much effort for the engine (especially with new plugs, air filter, oil, and DI), and then slight declines where there's no effort really, so part of it is terrain.
i used to get 40 in my subaru (calculated at gas station) driving from western mass to southern ct, but only 32 on the way back due to more uphill driving back into the mountains, but it showed me what the car could do, above and beyond the official statistics, at 150,000 miles plus...
then i had the dealer change the timing belt when i was having the water pump done, and fuel economy went down and never came back up, it took me awhile to make the connection, i think they must have put the belt on a little off somehow, it ran well, but had a little vibration at idle and lower mpg, computers could pick up nothing though...
