I most likely will keep it and this BB is one good reason why. Case in point, 2 days ago my driver side highbeam didn't come on when I put them on so I stopped at Wally Mart and got a new 9004 bulb. Got home, put it in and tested it only to find the new bulb had a bad high beam too! Finding this hard to believe I looked at the filament and low and behold both bulbs were fine. I got on to Saabnet and found the relay could be the cause and there are 2 relays to check. I pulled both and the fuses and reseated them and presto, the high beams work again.
What is good about this car:
The style, the shine of the paint, the perfect condition of the leather seats, the sense of safety, the brakes, the incredidible gas mileage I get, the low cost to insure, and the way it handles in bad weather.
What are my concerns:
1) The right back quarter panel is starting to rust around the wheel below the gas cap.
2) The air conditioner does not work. Could get parts from eEuroparts.
3) The exhaust needs to be fixed. Could get parts from eEuroparts. I tried to just get a CAT and straight pipe and get it bent to connect it to the muffler but no luck finding a bender. I am in Farmington Connecticut.
4) The transmission: The reverse lights are not going on when in reverse.
5) Original clutch.
Mileage: Almost 154,000. We bought this car new in October of 1991. I changed over to synthetic early on but still changed the oil every 3-5k miles.
To close, I really like this car but am concerned about nagging small issues cropping up due to age and miles. I guess I am worrying about what may never happen!
