Rotor retaining screw sheared off...oops

After replacing the rear control arm bushings and ball joints, my '93 n/a still shuddered when braking, so I moved to the brake rotors. The rear rotors looked the worst so I decided to replace them. When refitting them, I was a little over-zealous in tightening the 10mm retaining screw/locating stud and sheared it off. It doesn't seem like it does much more then aid in refitting the roadwheel since the lug bolts seem to securely sandwich the rotor between the wheel and the bearing. Is it safe to leave it as is, or do I have to drill it out and replace it? I don't mind the little difficulty it adds to refitting that roadwheel. Please, try not to laugh too hard :).
