Hello tris...
I should really go back and update that post... maybe you could do it for me? just add a link to this post right here that i'm typing... well, what' i'm ABOUT to say! ;)
Ok... so the w hose is the only thing of interest in this test here.
When you ground one of the pins, you should be able to blow fairly freely into the W hose...
it doesn't really matter where it comes out.
if you then switch the grounded pin, then blow again into the W hose, you shouldn't be able to blow as easily... but you may be able to blow some... or maybe not...
... but in any scenario, one pin grounded will be able to blow more air than the other.
if you can't blow into the W hose no matter which pin is grounded... then the BPC is clogged with something or mechanically broken on the inside...
this would cause an OVER-boost problem.
If you can blow freely into the W hose no matter which pin is grounded... then this is symptomatic of a BPC that isn't working correctly, causeing UNDER-boost.
My logic is this...
Air needs to travel through the W hose, and pressurize the wastegate actuator... in order to PUSH the wastegate open.
So in order for the BPC to ALLOW this to happen, it has to OPEN the W hose connection to receive MORE AIR-FLOW than normal...
So in order for the turbo to boost fully, the BPC has to LIMIT how much air is travelling to the W hose, and try to stop the air from presureizing the wastegate actuator.
However, SOME AIR still passes through the modern BPC (90 and up) and pressurizes the wastegate actuator a LITTLE BIT... but if your wastegate ROD is adjuested correctly, this small ammount of pressure won't be enough to open the wastegate fully... you'll still boost the proper ammount.
So what you'll notice during the test i wrote about, is that you should ALWAYS be able to blow air through the w hose (this was explained to me after i made that post), it should never be completely sealed... if it is then you should try cleaning the BPC with brake cleaner.
hope this clarifies things for everyone
