Can someone tell me about intalling an after maket Pioneer radio DEH-4600MP radio in a 9kT and the simplest way to by-pass the amp under the front pss seat.
I should have been more specific when I posted the original question.
The reason I want to know how to install an aftermarket radio, is that I believe the original amp is burnt out. Today I took out the seat and of course the wiring ont the amp is all done through one connector. I thought it was goin to be easier (one set of inputs and one set of outputs) no such luck. The connector has 25 active pins. I am assuming 8 pins are the Channel inputs (4x2); 12 are the channel outputs (2 pos and 1 neg for each channel); the remaining 5 are power, control, ground, etc. ?????
Question 1. Is it worth figuring out the speaker load side of the connector and hooking up the new head unit (4x50W , or 22wrms)?
Question 2. Sould I have the old amp diagnosed, repaired, or buy one from the junkard? Are the notorious for failure?
BTW the failure mode is that the radio 10amp fuse blows the instant the radio is switched on. The fuse will not blow if the signal plug is left out on the radio head OR if the 25 pin connector is left disconnected on the amp. Thanks for looking at this thread.
