crankshaft pulley question

One of my previous cars had the crankshaft pulley separate
when it was really cold one night - and I think it was a
'92 with a 2.3 in it.
I remember the indie telling me that they seem to separate
more frequently in the really cold weather.
Currently I am driving an '88 with a 2.0, and my question
is this:
Do all 9K's have the laminated crank pulley ?
Also - is there a 'best' source for this part ?
We are having a cold snap here, and that $300 or so was
not a happy thing in the middle of winter....
Thanks,
mark
