On Flushing the system. Posted by PGAero [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: THANKS TO BOTH OF YOU... AND..., gavin, Mon, 24 Jan 2005 12:44:18 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Couple things. If you have the space, time, and decent weather to flush your coolant system, I'd seriously consider doing it. When was it last flushed completely? Does -10 weather happen more than once a year, thereby warranting that something be done before spring? (yeah, that's a crap-shoot, huh:o) )
I've loosened a hose to drain SOME of the coolant, then topped-up with straight-up Saab coolant (or anything that's compatible...it's probably all the same stuff, in differnt jugs) to increase the ratio.
I'd check on the thermostat too...
If the coolant has been in the car for more than a year, I'd say go for the flush one of these days when you can, and let the car warm-up. A stationary running car will loosen any frozen spots in the radiator, but a moving car won't.
Good luck.
