From a replacement perspective, I think Saab lists only one set of 9000 strut/shock part numbers.

A year ago I found a 40K-mile '97 CSE at the junkyard and pulled all the (unbent) suspension pieces I could get off it to update my 160K-mile '92 9000T 5-door (the 'pre-Aero' 5-door w/16in wheels and basically the same ride height as the Aero, etc.)

The CSE struts/shocks had the part #s the Saab EPC lists as original for the Aero. They're not particularly stiff, certainly far less so than the Bilsteins I tried on the car.

The front springs from the '97 are basically identical - wire diameter, coil count, free length - to the original springs on my '92 9000T 5-door.

The rear springs are about 10-12mm taller than the '92 springs, and measure out at 0.2mm larger-diameter wire (or just much thicker paint?) The coil count is the same.

The '92 front anti-roll bar was 19mm, the rear 18mm. The '97 had 19mm bars at both ends.

The '97 struts, shocks, front springs, rear anti-roll bar, front hubs, and all the usable front and rear suspension bushings are now either in the '92 or are going in this week, plus some new bits like brake rotors and etc.

I've retained the original rear springs for now, but have considered trimming just enough off the '97 springs to get the rear ride height back down to stock, the net would be a slight increase in spring rate.
