At least I was in the car. The lady owned her own insurance agency, admitted she was at fault and we got it all settled pretty quickly. now wait for the whole hassle with the insurance companies. They can mess up even clear-cut cases as I know from a former accident (guy hit me in the rear on the highway, totalling one of my former 9k's).
But nothing is as bad as finding your car smashed during your absence. Had that once (quater panel smashed by a truck at the airport parking lot).
Back here in NL we have a fund, installed by a joint effot of the insurance companies, that covers such cases. It is just a pain to get ot the money, because:
- you may not move the car before the police have come down to write up their report;
- you need a witness to testify the damage wasn't there beforehand.
Find out with your insurance company if such a fund exists in your situation.
thanks for sharing!
