Justin,under ideal condition-yes,real world-no injectors don't last that long.

As i recall your DIS went up in a cloud of smoke. That is a failure of the power supply in the the DIS assembly.I have noticed when that occurs the unit's operation is unstable before it fails. It appears the unit can't respond as fast to changing conditions as it would if it were OK.

Now as far as the injectors, with use and our changing fuel stocks, the refiners have to work with;the fuel(final product-at the pump) is not what it once was for "quality".More deposits build up on the nozzel tips affecting the flow rates and spray patterns of the fuel injected into the engine. Also all injectors have internal filter screens ahead of the moving parts.A "On-car" injector cleaning does not clean these screens. The best method of cleaning is to remove the injectors off the engine then, have them cleaned them off the car on a machine.

In off car cleaning the injectors are soaked in a ultrasonic bath with the pintle nozzel operated electronically,so it's held open off it seat. The ultrasonic bath can then completely clean the injector of deposits internally and external the tip. After the unit is cleaned,it's hooked up so the injector is back flushed with cleaning fluid-which cleans the screen. After this the injectors a tested under preasure for flow rate and spray patterns to see if they meet standards. The cost for this type of cleaning is app. $50.00 per injector. It's by far worth every penny if your injectors need cleaning, the diference is night and day between how the engine responds(if the engine is sound to begin with)after it's done!!!!

The in tank fuel injector cleaners vary in results,I am in the northeast-Chevron gasoline products have not been Sold here for decades.I have used Their Techron fuel injector cleaner since they pulled out here for over 20 years. It is buy far the best product out there when used as directed. If used right along-you only will only have to resort to off car cleaning when the screen in the injectors foul with deposits.

Hope this helps!
