As I said, I did throw this explanation together in haste, so I apologize for forgetting a few things. I also didn't realize that the switchbox wasn't factory installed in all cars, so this is a good point of clarification for anyone thinking about building the adapter.

For my cable to work, it requires the Clarion switchbox unless you don't want to keep your current CD player. I did not actually test it without the switchbox, but it should work.

The switch box actually just has a small mechanical relay that switches the signal inputs from the default source (left side if looking at the side of the box with the sticker on it and the attached cable pointing up) to the secondary source (right side). It switches when it sees one pin on the connector go to 0 volts. The other two lines (that go high) just pass through to the head unit to tell it there's a CD Player currently playing so it will enter AUX mode. The switch box is actually extremely simple, so one could probably build their own, but I don't think it'd be worth it.

By the way, this is a somewhat of a halfass solution. If I was really smart, I would have found a way to make the deck think it had a changer connected to it so you could use the SOURCE button to switch to the aux input instead of adding an external switch. I really just didn't want to take the changer out of the car.
