$360 CV boot job, should I go for?

The car is '98CSE. After having the outer cv boot failure last week. I'd studied through all internet source about how to work this stuff out. I decided that it's not my job!, not only I have just minimal DIY skill on suspension/ wheel hub things, but also it's quite a bit messy to work with cv/grease. So last weekend I came up hunting for the shop that can replace just the boot for my car.
The first shop said that the labour cost of just boot changing is $150 / side! (I walk, no run away!) the next shop said they're not going to replace only the boot but they will work if and only if the whole axle was replaced. They would charged me $360 for everything (2 axles+boots+labour)... sounds more reasonable than the first one. But wait a minute!, I just need only the CV boot replacement not the whole axle! I can't find other shop else since it's weekend in small town Raleigh, so came up only those choices to choose from....
How you guys think? I know the car need only CV boot replace but I feel I have no other choice if I don't want to work myself. The axles system's still going strong and feel solid and I think it's really not need the whole axle replaced (atleast I can feel by driving my car)... Or perhaps it's time I really have to begin to learn how to work on wheel hub by myself? Any suggestion is welcome!!!
