Hello All,
I belive I have a bad fuel pump, but I wanted to see what everyone else says it could possibly be.
I have a 1993 9000CS non-turbo with 131K miles on it. It ran great last night. I went to start it up today to move it into the garage for an oil change, but the car wouldn't start. The battery was strong, it was turning over the engine, but engine wouldn't catch and start. So I looked at all the fuses, they all looked good. I tested the DI module by pulling it off, took out the sparkplugs from the engine and installed them in the DI, grounded the sparkplugs to the engine ground, turned the car over, and saw sparks.
Now, while I had the spark plugs out of the engine, and I started the car, I didn't smell any gas, which I should of if the injectors were actually spraying gas into the head, correct?
So, that being said, it seems like I have a fuel delivery problem. I am going to go to the dealer tommorrow and buy the fuel pump relay and swap it out. If that doesn't fix the problem, is there anything else it could be besides the fuel pump? Is replacing the fuel pump something a do-it-yourselfer can do in a garage? I am pretty good mechanically and have been working on cars for the last 6 years.
Thanks for the help!
