Aero vs. CS Posted by Bill Homer [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Just a question of opinion about the 9000, Canadiansaaber, Tue, 1 Mar 2005 13:36:17 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have a 1994 CS Turbo 5-speed. For the 1993-1994 models of CS and CSE, the optional Turbo (both models) came with the full 200 HP engine, as opposed the the base 150 HP engine. The 1995-1997 CS only came with 170 HP Low-Pressure Turbo (LPT), which isn't a slouch, but you can certainly feel the difference from 200 HP. Note that the LPT engine can be easily modified (change the ECU and add a BPC/hoses) to boost its output to 200 HP. Auto Aeros are equipped with 200 HP engines, vs. the 5-speed which has 225 HP.
The Aero is a sharper looking car, with 16-inch Aero wheels, slightly lowered/firmer suspension, color-coded body kit, and leather interior with Recaro seats. Some people don't like these seats, especially the rears which don't like to fold flat - I personally prefer cloth/velour seats (and would love to recover some Recaros in velour!), as they are warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer, less slippery when cornering. With manual seats, I never have to worry about the flakey seat adjusting system (motors, gears and cables) that seem to pop up here with regularity.
Do a search to see the various opinions on the automatics vs. manual transmission - I won't get into it here. I enjoy my 5-speed.
You should be able to buy a newer CS/CSE for the same price as an older Aero.
