Ok Thanks i understand about the extra air not making it run richer now.
The Engine lt. comes on when the motor is started immediately. As soon as it runs. Not while cranking and it goes thru the test cycle when the key is turned on. So no warning lights stay on before it cranks. But it does stay on all the time the motor is running. I have no way to check codes on my 88 that i know of.
I talked to a local mech. that has some volvo's and audi work. And he said he has seen Low Fuel pressure cause the exact same problem, sooty plugs, stumbling. Said he had a domestic car that the fuel pressure was 2 psi off and was bad. So who knows. another possiblity.
I checked the hybid voltage yesterday before i took things apart. And it was .5 with just the key on.(at the o2 connector) i also checked pin 2 on the AMM (connector)and it has bat. voltage with the key off?? Is that right?? Doesnt sound correct.
I recieved my other AMM in the mail today. I checked the setting on it first thing and it is at 1.1k so i turned it down 1 turn and it will drop down. Not stuck.
Another question. If the burn off rpm is higher, then what about the people that dont accelerate fast and dont reach that rpm??? Do their cars run rich too??
Ok Any thing else to check?? I have looked at my new Air Filter that is now turning grey, maybe from backfire maybe from the airbox being plugged. Ill go see as iam cleaning the engine compartment now. Check back in a short. Thanks hopefully it will see the road.
