I agree, full boost when cold probably is hard on things. Maybe the ECU is smart and limits boost until the engine is warm?? Haven't tried so I don't know.
I am careful and keep revs down (under 3k) and no boost until it is warm. Even ignoring the wear and tear, there is more fuel used and pollution when cold. I don't know if it would be different if I drove it harder when cold but my 96CSE has a clean tail pipe. I've occassionally seen a little black after a very short trip but it disappears once warm.
