In my car (and any other 9000 I have seen), under the ACC controls there are three DIN-sized slots (ashtray, radio, CD/EQ) and below that is an approximately 4" x 6" cubbyhole - this one. It pops out, is held in place by tabs on the top and bottom of the felt-covered plastic insert. If you can't see the cable there, the radio and CD/EQ come out very easily by inserting nails into the four holes and pulling, then the cagtes can be removed by unbending the metal tabs which hold them in place. Be sure that you have your radio unlock code if you are going to do this!

I have read that the cable for the CD changer is standard equipment, at least on the US models. If it's more convenient for you and you don't mind giving up your glovebox, that might also be a good place - no gloveboxes after the 1993 cars due to passenger-side airbag.
