ari, thanks for your reply. here is what the independent told me.
He checked the fuel system--ok
ignition system--ok
Fuel computer fault code, with no check engine light on.
He found the follwing codes in the fuel computer:22441,22450,22452,22440,39371,25651.
ran fault tracing for all codes with no fault found. he then goes on to say car needs fuel injection computer replaced, needs heater hoses replaced and coolant gas temp does not hold pressure.
afterwards, he says that other things might be needed but he wont be able to know what is needed until the computer is replaced.
spark plugs were replaced last year, less than 12000 miles on them, they were gapped correctly, did it myself. i am ordering another set today along with a fuel filter, air cabin filter, engine air filter, coolant gauge temp sensor and the heater hoses.
to answer your questions:
the idle symptoms have been present for two years. more pronounced in cold weather, i.e, chicago winters. on cold days, when car was first started, the engine would hunt. rpm's would go up to 1300-1600, but as soon as it would warm up the rpm's would level off.
as for the restart problem, up until a month ago, i only had two instances when the car died after a restart. in the last month i have had at least two to three instances occur each week.
am not able to chech the idle control valve, dont have the car today. but will do so at first oppurtunity.
as for the charcoal canister, i will check that as well, but dont think that is the issue. it has been inspected in the past and found ok.
where do i find the air intake sensor. looked at eeuroparts, they dont seem to have one?
should the indy have inspected the idle control valve?
once again thank you very much for your help
