Appropriate Brake pads for Gentle Braking Style? long

Hello,
I have posted a few times about poor breaking performance. I had relatively new brakes on the front of my 98 9000. They consist of Zimmerman cross drilled rotors and PBR(?) Deluxe pads. Dean had posted an excellent article on pads that made me realize that these pads require a heavy foot to wear appropriately (this is my opinion). I kept thinking that I had warped rotors. After a few heavy breaking procedures all is good. But the vibrations keep coming back. So this leads me to think using a softer pad. I did replace the calipers and I now have the firmness back as well as even braking. This could have been due to the fluid change as well. Any suggestions for pads?? I really don't want to spend the money on both rotors and pads again so I thought I would start with the pads. I did have the rotors turned with a few thousand on them because I thought they were warped. Also, I have original pads and rotors on the rear. I have 160K on the car. Thanks.
