There are very few places on Earth, if any, where the ambient temperature exceeds the operating temperature of the engine. When Saab first went to 4 cycle engines they recommended 10W-30 oil except for the most extream cold conditions. I have used nothing but 10W-30 Wolf's Head in all our Saabs ever since with no problems. We never had to add oil between changes or replace a timing chain even with our 94 CSE with 220,000 miles on it. The present owner of my 1985 900T says it is still going strong with 280,000 plus miles. I don't think the quality of the filter is anywhere near as important as frequent changes (4000 miles or so) but I would go with one a bit better than Fram or Walmart. I boycott Walmart as a matter of principle in any case.
