Grease is the word, have you heard? Posted by Bill Homer [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Grease the center metal tube, TML ![]() ![]() |
Sounds like that stuff will work fine, but my question is "how long will it last"? Silicon grease (which perhaps you are calling rubber grease?) is sticky, sticky stuff. I got some on some wrenches and it's still there, wiping alone won't remove it. Regular grease does not have this tenacity.
When I got my bushings from Eeuro, they had no grease at all. Others have said that this has been corrected, but I never heard back when I advised them of this. After initial installation, the car squeaked like crazy. I pulled the bushings off the control arm spindles and lubed up the end plates, thinking that was where the noise was coming from - no. After I pulled the bushings out for the third time, I was not willing to take any chances, used the grease I described. It's been fine for about 15 months, although I just started hearing a bit of noise from one side on extreme bumps, which may or may not be due to some other factor.
