What are the symptoms? Posted by Bill Homer [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Where exactly is the front left SRS sensor located?, Mike Johnson, Fri, 1 Apr 2005 10:05:34 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My guess is that your SRS light is blinking and connecting the ISAT or Tech-II tool displayed a "left front sensor" fault. Don't be too quick to blame the sensor - apparently, this is a very common error message and perhaps the default for any other non-specific error.
Cleaning the connector at the sensor is a good first step. However, the other end of the cable, at the SRS controller, might be where the actual fault lies. The multi-pin connector there apparently had bad crimps on the pins from the manufacturer, and may hae been subject to moisture from leaky heater cores. SAAB sells a replacement cable where you have to swap out the pins in the connector - must not be an isolated incident if they went to this trouble. After trying everything else, Peter Ingram installed the replacement cable in his 1993 car and his fault disappeared. The SRS light is on in my 1994 car, resetting it doesn't help anymore (it used to), I'm thinking of replacing the connector pins with gold-plated versions, using silver solder, etc. Haven't gotten around to it yet.
