> How easy is it to get to the controller?
You remove one of the long, thin carpet pieces on either side of the center console, about nine inches above the floor. They have "ratchet-type" black plastic pins holding the carpet in place, just pry them out gently, plus a screw at top. I have not cleaned this connector yet, have seen the box from the left side (I had this carpet piece out for some other work), but most of the writeups that I have seen say to attack it from the right side.

Don't know, don't really want to speculate, would hate to have your airbag go off on its own. My guess however is that pulling the plug off of the controller would remove power for both the light and the explosive charges, but this is a bad mistake if wrong!
IF YOU ARE GOING TO MESS AROUND WITH THE SRS CONTROLLER BOX, BE SURE TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY AND WAIT A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF TIME (OTHERS HAVE SPECIFIED HOW LONG) BEFORE TOUCHING ANYTHING TO ALLOW HE CAPACITORS TO DISCHARGE.
