Cars of all makes and models have been known to break on occasion, and after a decade on the road, it's reasonable for things to fail. Now, if you replace your Aero with an '01 Toyota Appliance Mark V, and it's more reliable than your 11 year old car, I wouldn't say that Saabs are less reliable. Compare it to a '94 Toyota Appliance Mark II.
The fact that you had a bolt come loose after 11 years on a car that has probably driven hard doesn't say the car is bad. Yes, the AC/heat on these cars can go, but that is also true of a lot of other cars.
No problem selling your Aero - I'm sure someone will be happy to own it. And if you're looking to spend less time working on the car, I understand that completely. Buying something significantly newer is quite reasonable - I know I've taken that route. But don't assume that selling your known maintenance Saab for an unknown maintenance anything else of similar vintage will prove more reliable is a poor bet.
